Happy Woman’s Day

Yes, today is Womans’ Day, but did you know that there is a day called “Punch Your Neighbor Day”? LOL It’s a festival celebrated in Bolivia and they call it “Tinku” – meaning encounter or meeting (translate to “batter the f*** out of someone”) LOL, according to a blogger!

Still not getting the picture? Well, here is a likely scenario of a conversation by two casual visitors to Bolivia on Tinku Festival:

“Sweetie, look, there’s a darling little town ahead. Let’s stop for a coffee.”

“That sounds simply divine. Gosh, it’s popular! Look how many people are there. Oh, they’re dancing! Look! How quaint!”

“Well I’ve always had a good eye for nice out-of-the-way places, Georgina. Remember that wonderful cafe in- OH MY GOD what ARE THEY DOING THEY’RE BEATING THE F*** OUT OF EACH OTHER! Piss the s***! Henry! Henry back the f*** up, we’re going home!”    LOL

BTW, Happy Woman’s Day girlfriends, sisters & nieces! Love you’ll lots!! Hugs…:)

Happy Valentine’s Day

“What we need to know about loving is no great mystery. We all know what constitutes loving behavior; we need but act upon it, not continually question it. Over-analysis often confuses the issue and in the end brings us no closer to insight. We sometimes become too busy classifying, separating, and examining, to remember that love is easy. It’s we who make it complicated.”  – Leo F. Buscaglia

While Sir Buscaglia’s view still complicate love, LOL, this Valentine’s day, I’ll say what needs to be said and say it simple: Happy Valentine’s Day beloved family and friends, love you all lots!! 🙂

A View From My Window – Oct 26, 2010

Lookin’ out the window, caught an awesome sight of an elderly couple walking back home in the late morning on a windy autumn day, holding each other’s hands…

As the world is busy deciding and commenting
… On who should hold the key
To the internet, in the event of a catastrophy!

Here comes a couple, unaware of such stuff
Who have lived the love
And come through the chaos of life
Holding onto each other
In the face of triumph and troubles
All the way to ‘completion’, who knows when
Satisfied with the fruits
That this life has bestowed upon them.:)

You Have Two Cows

Classical Civilization

You have two cows, one in Athens and one in Sparta. In Athens, the cow is the wise cowncillor of the city. In Sparta, the cow is the brave cownqueror. They both like to invade unintelligent sheep that go “baar baar” (called barbarians) for sport and then milk them. One day, the Spartan cow is sent to depose the cowncillor in Athens. The Spartan cow wins, and milks the cowncillor. Then the Romans come in, pours the milk into their inventions—sewers, eat both cows during an orgy, and vomit them out so their stomachs can take more. Everyone else comments on how civilized they are.

Microsoft Windows

You have two cows and a stupid dog in the corner telling you where to find your damned files. One of your cows has caused a general protection fault and now neither of them will ever produce milk again, even if you kill them and replace them with two brand new cows. The dog never dies.

Apple

You have two cows. They are beautiful and work perfectly, but no one will buy them, probably because their milk isn’t compatible with the majority of cereal. They will buy your chicken, however, which helps your stock.

Stephen King

You have 2 cows, but it takes 700 pages of boring crap to find that out.

Darwinism

Your two cows are food.

Atheism

I can’t believe these cows!

Darth Vader

I find your lack of cows disturbing.

Pure Socialism

You have two cows. The government takes them and puts them in a barn with everyone else’s cows. You have to take care of all of the cows. The government gives you as much milk as you need.

Pure Democracy

You have two cows. Your neighbors decide who gets the milk.

Pure Anarchy

You have two cows. Either you sell the milk at a fair price or your neighbors try to take the cows and kill you.

Pure Communism

You have two cows. Your neighbors help you take care of them, and you all share the milk.

And finally my own version of:

Pure Capitalism

You dont have two cows, but you still somehow sell 2-cow’s capacity milk! It may not be even milk cos’ it’s outsourced, but the label says ‘drink at your own risk’, anyway! Sell your milk company to Google and retire with a million dollar bonus before someone sues you! 🙂

The Age of Beauty

Latest study says, “Women are most beautiful at 31″…oops I just missed it by an inch! LOL

You & Me – The Biased Judges

An email I received today made me realize that our judgments are biased and it solely depends on our mindset. Be it conservative or liberal, in either case we are activists in our own way because what we think and feel is right, is what we apply to judge others! In other words, I find that we totally lack unbiased examination of an issue, a problem or an outcome of an event.

I can even go to the extend of saying that we are incapable of not being biased; subconsciously we do take sides based on our values.

For instance, today I encountered a complex emotional dilemma when I received an email stating that one of my friends who married a celebrity through love marriage got divorced! Even though I know both of them, much more than them, I’m concerned about their small children. Coming to the point, my moral compass instantly accused none; a strange decision which might not make both sides happy!

In either case, I strongly feel a woman has to have the right to break away if she finds her marriage fruitless, but at the same time I don’t approve her decision when there are children involved in the context. People sometimes mistake a person with a liberal view claiming that they are only bothered about women’s rights or so (BTW, I’m not a feminist!) but the fact of the matter is, that all situations must be analyzed with the most affected persons taken into account, in this case the children.

I may be wrong, do correct me if I am.

Brazil – FIFA World Cup 2006

To watch my favorite football player in the World Cup is beyond description!

I still cannot forget Pele’s legendary bicycle kicks during the  60s & 70s World Cup Series (Not that I was born at that time to watch him play live). I grew up watching Pele’s best games and thus became an avid fan of the World Cup cos’ of him.  The team that Pele played for became my favorite team and till today I’m still a faithful fan of Brazil.

To watch my favorite team BRAZIL still living up to it’s legendary ancestry (with players like Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cafu, Carlos, Kaka, Robinho) is an exhilarating experience!

Being ranked the world’s number one team, the only team to have qualified for every single FIFA World Cup and five times World Cup Champions, the last two matches has been disappointing play by Brazil. At this rate it’s gonna be tough to beat Germany/Argentina (hopeful contenders for the finals).

So team BRAZIL;

It’s time to show the world who is the king of football,

It’s time to play with the caliber of your famous ancestors like Pele and Zico,

It’s time again to entertain the world with your acrobatic foot play,

So go get them, Team BRAZIL…

GOOOOOOOAL ALL THE WAY!

The World Cup is yours!!!

Dedication to my man – “You’re still the one”

Honey,

Here’s a song in dedication for your birthday: I know you might be wondering, shouldn’t I be dedicating this song on our Wedding Anniversary? Well birthday, anniversary or just another day, “You’re still the one”.

Though 8 years have passed, this song always brings a twinkle to our eyes (reminiscing, I guess at what people told us “I bet they’ll never make it”) …All we say, time and again:

Looks like we made it
Look how far we’ve come my baby
We mighta took the long way
We knew we’d get there someday

They said, “I bet they’ll never make it”
But just look at us holding on
We’re still together still going strong

(You’re still the one)
You’re still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You’re the one I want for life
(You’re still the one)
You’re still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You’re still the one I kiss good night

Ain’t nothin’ better
We beat the odds together
I’m glad we didn’t listen
Look at what we would be missin’

They said, “I bet they’ll never make it”
But just look at us holding on
We’re still together still going strong

(You’re still the one)
You’re still the one I run to
The one that I belong to
You’re the one I want for life
(You’re still the one)
You’re still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You’re still the one I kiss good night

I’m so glad we made it
Look how far we’ve come my baby.

A Modern Monologue

A modern monologue based on the quote from Plato:
“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation!”
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
How true is this even in this time and age of internet supremacy – Chatting, instant messages, text messages are not adequate to convey the essence of a person. (because it is convenient to cheat on these mediums….) We are still dependent on our senses; touch and sight to truly understand a stranger. (because we know that the person on the other side is not expressing his/her true self, lack of trust maybe…) I question the progress we’ve made as occupants of this planet called earth. (watch the FedEx ad; then you’ll know we “have” progressed…) We discovered the way to touch base with the moon, but yet we are so reliant in our GOD given senses to fully figure out a being. (Isn’t writing, chatting etc too results of “abstract sense”? If not how could you quote Plato’s words, which you never heard “in-person”!!) Why can’t the millions of jargons, lingos & lexis that we use to converse over the phone or when we meet in the flesh be evidence for the unfeigned you or me? (because of the gene… it moves very carefully not to miss a “potential” mate, relationship or some form of benefit from the other party) Why do we need fondling of the senses to comprehend our soul? (because some people like to touch & feel (heart related stuff), and some work with their head (mind related ones)…) Hmm, did Plato mean “physical” contact when he said “play”? (Hmm… now you are talking gay!!!) LOL

I would never allow anyone to make a decision on behalf of me except for my husband!

It’s been a year since Terri passed on and today I watched her husband Michael Schiavo being interviewed by Keith Olberman of MSNBC news. My heart became heavy…reminiscing the events leading up to the day when Terri’s feeding tube was removed and the day she was pronounced dead…the fuss Terri’s parents and siblings made appearing in Fox News with Shaun Hannity almost everyday …Bill Frist showing video clips of Terri at the Senate meeting…the senate summoning Michael Schiavo to court…people crowding outside the hospice protesting…now I’m raged! How dare anyone intervene in a husband and wife’s decision!I would never allow anyone to make decisions on behalf of me or on behalf of my husband especially when we can’t speak for ourselves by that I mean when in a vulnerable state. I always tell my husband, “Honey, you know very well what to do if I’m disabled or have a deadly/incurable disease…let me go, don’t treat me and make me suffer more, let me die in peace…don’t let anyone make any decisions for me, except for you and only you is allowed to make any decisions on behalf of me.” And my husband has said the same to me. This is the type of conversation that a husband and wife would have.

I just cannot accept the fact that just cos’ a mother gave birth to a child that she is the only one who knows her child well enough and thus can make decisions on behalf of her child. That may be true when the child is still young and not married. But after marriage it is the spouse who should have the right to that decision. For a man and woman have committed to each other through their marriage vows to be there for each other till death do them apart.

It does not matter to me if my husband would wish to get married to another woman after my demise. In fact, I would be happy that he is getting on with his life and not in remorse over my death and thus ruin his life. I would be glad that he has found someone who could take care of our children.

If only Terri could speak…she would have echoed the same sentiment, putting all these hypocrites to shame!!
